Talking to your GP is the first step.

Tell your GP how you’ve been feeling and discuss your options for a mental health treatment plan.

Your GP may refer you to a psychiatrist.

If you need to see a psychiatrist for diagnosis or treatment, the doctors at Waymind are here to help.

The most important thing is: don’t go it alone and get lost in the woods.

Instead, build your support team and forge a clear path to feeling better.

We’ll help you find your way

At Waymind you’ll meet psychiatrists and allied health clinicians who are here to support you.

There are two things that they all have in common:

way-icon__bullet-point-001

An interest in lifestyle psychiatry, and how the mind and body work together

A team approach, where your clinicians work together to help you feel better

Psychiatry

Your psychiatrist is a specialist medical doctor who can help with mental health concerns or emotional difficulties.

First, they’ll ask you about your recent experiences and past treatments. Then your psychiatrist may recommend psychotherapy (talking therapy), and/or medication for your specific needs, and other lifestyle changes and therapies.

Ready to take the first step?

You’ll need a referral from your GP to see a psychiatrist at Waymind.

Psychology

Your psychiatrist may recommend you see a psychologist as part of your treatment.

A psychologist can support you with psychotherapy (talking therapy), CBT (cognitive behavioural therapies), group therapy and workshops.

The role of diet and exercise

Research shows that when you nourish your body, you can give your mental health a boost.

Your psychiatrist may introduce you to a dietitian and exercise physiologist to discuss lifestyle changes. Things like eating more nutritious food and getting regular exercise. These changes can start small and your clinicians can help you decide what’s right for you.
